New York City announces its plans to make the stairs to nowhere. Dubbed the social climber, the Hudson Yards is set to be a five-acre plaza + garden is a permanent public art centerpiece located on the Far West Side of Manhattan. Expected to be completed by 2018, the Vessel was designed by Thomas Heatherwick and will feature 154 interconnecting flights of stairs comprised of 2500 steps, 80 landings, adding up to one mile of pathways.
